Former Physician Accused of Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients
Legal authorities report that a former doctor stands accused of performing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
Details of the Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
One senior CPS official commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors said the 45 charges he is charged with:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
