Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has outperformed Oscar Piastri at each of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the championship lead from his teammate by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Until that point, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before the sprint shootout due at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, lying 36 points Norris, ended up in 17th place as his Red Bull team followed a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, if briefly, when he spun at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda slid over the curbs on exit before sliding over the run-off area, and was lucky to get away with just a minor contact of the barrier.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the final moments of the practice, rotating twice through the fast downhill Mergulho corner leading to the final corner on to the main straight.
The veteran finished practice in P19, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with the German's car third fastest, over half a second behind the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
