The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG
The intense world of Tom Clancy’s The Division is being adapted into a tabletop role-playing experience. A partnership has been formed to develop a TTRPG set within the franchise’s post-pandemic landscape. The project was revealed, with a funding drive scheduled to begin in the spring of 2026.
"This endeavor will bring the franchise’s distinctive tension, tactical intensity, and iconic world-building to the tabletop, providing fans a fresh avenue to engage with The Division through immersive storytelling and mission-based gameplay," states an official release.
Initial offerings are set to feature a beginner's box, core rulebooks, a GM screen, miniatures, and various premium versions.
Delving Into The Division's Apocalyptic World
In this universe, a deadly virus known as Green Poison was unleashed in NYC, sending the United States into chaos. As the crisis escalates, civil order breaks down and hostile groups rise, transforming the urban landscape into a warzone. To restore law and order, the government {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of sleeper agents. That’s where the agents come in.
Development on the game has been in progress for approximately three years, and it is confirmed to be finished. The upcoming crowdfunding effort will function as a preorder system to reach a wider audience, particularly in the United States. Production is slated to begin right after the campaign, with shipping projected for the latter part of 2026.
A Streamlined Tactical System: The GRIS System
An early look at the system reveals it uses 10-sided dice exclusively through its new GRIS system, encouraging a fast-paced and tactical style. Agents leverage skills or traits to assemble small dice pools, typically from one to five d10s.
- Rather than adding results together, players select a single “resolution die” from the group.
- This dice is then compared against a target difficulty.
- Achieving a natural 10 grants special effects, such as increased harm or boosted support.
Engagements Focus On Positioning and Awareness
Battles prioritize positioning and environmental awareness, mirroring the video games. Factors like taking cover, elevation, or line of sight directly influence dice rolls. This system is designed to reward teamwork and smart positioning over simple statistics.
A Thematic Wound Mechanic
The way health is managed adds a compelling thematic twist. Operatives have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage reduces their capabilities by lowering the number of d10s.
- At zero health, an operative collapses, but they’re not unconscious.
- They may still move and take limited actions, simulating the last stand seen in many shooter games.
- Any agent in this state must consult a trauma table, risking persistent effects like trauma or crippling injuries.
An Introductory Adventure
A publicly available Quickstart Guide is promised soon. It includes a pre-made starting adventure called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, players lead the search for a missing medical team and work to stop an assault by the violent Rikers gang, who have taken over that NYC neighborhood. More specifics and the complete product lineup will be unveiled near the campaign launch.
